Capetonians are known to be quite vocal about their love for the city and surrounding areas of the Western Cape, and it would seem their pride is not misplaced. TripAdvisor, the authoritative international travel site, recently released its Taveller’s Choice list of the most popular destinations in South Africa – and the Cape leads the way by far. Our very own Camps Bay gets a mention all to itself.
Here are the ten most popular destinations in SA:
- Cape Town
- Plettenberg Bay
- Camps Bay
Only number 5, Johannesburg, is not in the Western Cape. This just proves that the Cape is awesome!
We are especially pleased that Camps Bay is recognised as a distinct destination. Here’s how the TripAdvisor entry describes it:
“Shaded spots go early at Cape Town’s crowded Camps Bay, where locals picnic and play in the strong Atlantic waves. Look for the flagged bathing areas for safer swims for all the family. Festive cafes sit adjacent to the sands, which are dramatically set at the foot of the Twelve Apostles Mountains.”
The Bay Atlantic Guest House is just a short walk from Camps Bay beach and the vibrant café culture of “the sunset strip”.
TripAdvisor’s annual Traveller’s Choice awards honour the very best travel destinations based on millions of traveller reviews.
